In short

Nike has agreed to a multi-year deal to become the official kit sponsor for the Mumbai Indians' men's and women's teams. While team staff will begin wearing branded gear this month, official player uniforms will feature the Nike Swoosh beginning in 2027. The move follows the apparel maker's earlier departure from sponsoring the Indian national cricket team in 2020. The partnership replaces outgoing supplier Skechers, which served as the franchise's kit partner from 2024 to 2026.

In the world of shirt sponsorships, where IPL franchises such as MI, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings demand a reported Rs 40-60 crore per season for the front jersey, it is premium retail space.

"The partnership marks a significant step in Nike’s continued investment in cricket and reflects the brand’s long-term commitment to athletes, fans and the future of sport in India," said the company in a press note.
