• Search terms entered on our own site are recorded to improve coverage. They are tied to the random browser ID, not to an account unless you are signed in.
• Saved stories and your daily “caught up” count are stored only in your browser and never sent to us.
• Theme preference stored locally in your browser (localStorage) — not sent to our servers.
• We do not require accounts to read articles. We do not sell personal data.

Advertising storage defaults to denied until consent is updated via our consent tooling. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics storage also defaults to denied until consent is chosen; elsewhere analytics storage is granted by default. You can clear site data in your browser at any time.

First-party reading analytics respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. To opt out in this browser, run localStorage.setItem('eb_analytics_optout','1') in the developer console, or block site storage. Raw analytics events are kept for a bounded period and then deleted; aggregate reports do not identify a browser.
