Bajaj will become a non-executive member of the board, subject to shareholder approvals, from January 1, 2027, an official statement said.

The company's board approved the transition as part of an evolution in leadership and a shift to a professionally managed and board-led governance model, it said.

Sudarshan Sampathkumar, who is serving as an independent director, has been appointed non-executive chairman from January 2027, subject to shareholder approval.

Sanjay Sachdeva will continue to lead the company as the managing director and chief executive, it said.

"I believe this is the right time to evolve our governance model and allow the Board to play an even stronger collective role," Bajaj said, adding that he is committed to the company as a shareholder.

Sampathkumar thanked the board for the confidence placed in him, and committed to encouraging constructive dialogue as the company enters its next phase.

The company reported a loss of Rs 77.26 crore in FY26, but it seems to be swinging back into the black with a Rs 73.25 crore net profit in the first half of FY27.
