In short

Worried that his family background would result in a sparse turnout, 24-year-old Xu Chenghong invited the public via a Douyin video to attend his October 31 wedding to his bride, Chuichui. Local authorities had to shift the event from Xu's home to an alternate venue to safely accommodate the crowd for a traditional Miao bonfire dance. Although celebrated as an act of solidarity, the gathering also drew criticism regarding traffic logistics and speculation that it served as a marketing stunt.
