NCS unveiled the initiative alongside the launch of its AI Mission Centre, which is designed to unite engineers and industry experts to safely test and deploy technologies into daily workflows. The firm established immediate partnerships to upgrade Changi Airport Group's runway debris detection, test patient facial recognition with the Institute of Mental Health, and optimize micro-organism production for Life3 Biotech. Beyond adding dedicated personnel through external recruitment and internal retraining, the company is preparing more than 2,000 existing artificial intelligence staff to build production-ready systems.

SINGAPORE – Technology services firm NCS plans to more than triple its pool of forward-deployed engineers from 100 to over 300 within two years, the latest in a wave of tech companies hiring for the role in Singapore.
Google, ByteDance and Databricks have also been recruiting these specialists, while OpenAI announced plans in May to create more than 200 technical roles here and train mid-career software engineers.
Forward-deployed engineers work within clients’ teams, combining coding skills with business knowledge to build AI tools for everyday operations.
NCS plans to fill the positions through training existing staff and external hiring, but it did not provide a breakdown.
Chief executive officer of NCS Sam Liew said: “Our goal is to build AI capabilities that serve Singapore, and solutions that can make an impact around the world.”

Residents across multiple states are mobilizing against tech expansion by placing dozens of regulatory initiatives directly before voters. These community-led efforts stem from mounting anxiety over severe local water and electricity consumption, alongside concerns regarding child health near major facility sites. While the pushback threatens specific multi-billion-dollar investments, developers continue expanding nationwide capacity at a rapid clip.
Investors are aggressively scrutinizing capital efficiency and weak profitability after outsized sector concentration left mainland and Hong Kong exchanges exposed to sharp profit-taking. Despite the contraction, the market adjustment represents an expectation reset driven by monetization hurdles and geopolitical risks rather than an end to state-supported technological goals.
The prospective debut marks the first time an artificial intelligence model developer of this scale enters the public market, establishing a baseline for the broader sector. The assessment reflects expectations that the company will dominate a premium AI industry potentially exceeding $5 trillion over the next decade. However, realization of this value depends heavily on overcoming severe computational bottlenecks and aggressive enterprise competition.
