In short

Anthony Loke agreed to temporarily delay his departure at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's request until the house arrest officially starts. The move directly protests the conditional pardon granted by Malaysia's King, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar. The transition to home detention advanced after the United Malays National Organisation paid a fine of RM50 million (US$12.3 million) on Najib's behalf. Once the detention begins, Loke will officially submit his resignation letter.

"The moment Datuk Seri Najib sets foot in his home, that's when I will resign," he told reporters on Friday, adding that he will send a letter to Anwar regarding his decision.
