In short

The diplomatic push to resolve the war between Iran, the US, and Israel faces significant hurdles as Iranian lawmakers review 10 distinct proposals to abandon the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Although US President Donald Trump insists an agreement must prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, Tehran demands an end to the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz before advancing talks. Meanwhile, International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors remain locked out of critical Iranian facilities following military strikes earlier this year. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz highlighted the broader economic toll, noting the conflict has cost Europe over 100 billion euros in energy expenses.
