Aid convoy enters besieged Ukrainian town Oleshky

By · Published by Everything Blog

In short

Human rights commissioners from both nations met in Oleshky to coordinate 25 evacuation buses offering at least 750 seats for stranded civilians. The town's population has fallen drastically from 24,000 to approximately 2,000 since its capture shortly after the 2022 invasion. Conflicting diplomatic narratives have emerged regarding the truce, with the White House citing mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump and the Vatican crediting interventions by Pope Francis. Despite the localized southern pause, heavy combat persists elsewhere, including strikes on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and a massive overnight drone attack targeting Moscow.

The Russian newspaper Izvestia said on Friday that the aid convoy carried food and medical supplies as the six-day United States-brokered localised ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine stretched into its third day.
