In short

Jo Nabuurs originally misplaced the band during the winter of 1942 or 1943 while threshing grain behind his North Brabant farm. After a local relative alerted the family to the detectorist's find, the ring was personally returned to Jo’s son, Bert Nabuurs. The finder declined a monetary reward for returning the well-preserved piece, which Bert believed stayed intact because it remained dry underground.
