In short
First lady Melania Trump facilitated a gathering of Russian and Ukrainian delegations following a six-day ceasefire she helped broker in the village of Oleshky. While Donald Trump met exclusively with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev to hint at a wider European agreement, Ukrainian officials such as Davyd Arakhamia used the visit to request further de-escalation missions. The negotiated pause allowed critical civilian evacuations and aid deliveries in the southern Kherson region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the successful operation spared hundreds of lives during the designated window.
