Berman condemned the resolution in the case against her attacker, identified as Joseph, arguing that the court failed to account for her severe physical and psychological trauma. Bronx Judge Lewis formally imposed the eight-and-a-half-year term alongside five years of post-release supervision, noting it had been settled through a prior agreement.
