In short

The Federal Reserve opted to maintain the target benchmark rate at 3.75% to 4%, despite two dissenters advocating for another rate increase. Robust economic expansion reached a 3.4% annualized pace in the third quarter, heavily underpinned by consumer spending and artificial intelligence investments. Meanwhile, annual inflation persisted at 3.7% due to energy price pressures tied to conflict in Iran. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh signaled that past policy decisions are steadily tightening broader credit conditions.
