In short

The United Kingdom revoked Swedish academic Andreas Malm's Electronic Travel Authorisation on Wednesday to block him from attending a London event. Malm was booked to speak on a panel hosted by the socialist magazine Tribune alongside Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori. Palestine Action is officially designated by the British government as a terrorist organisation. Malm believes the entry denial was directly triggered by his scheduled appearance with Ammori despite his long history of regular travel to the UK.

The United Kingdom has reportedly cancelled the travel authorisation of Swedish academic and pro-Palestine activist Andreas Malm, preventing him from entering the country ahead of a planned appearance at a London event, Al Jazeera reported.

The report said that the Home Office cancelled Malm’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) on Wednesday, saying his “presence in the UK is not considered to be conducive to the public good”.

Malm was due to join a panel organised by the socialist magazine Tribune alongside Huda Ammori, co-founder of Palestine Action, which the UK has proscribed as a “terrorist” organisation.

Malm said he believed the decision was linked to his planned appearance with Ammori.

“I have been going regularly to the UK for decades. My position on Palestine has always been public,” he said.
