In short

The food rescue organization gathers 10 tonnes of excess provisions every week from regional growers, producers, and commercial distributors. To handle the scale safely, operations utilize a specialized warehouse fitted with chilled and frozen storage alongside an expanding transport fleet. These resources allow the team to redirect perishable items into local initiatives, such as the West London Nourish Hub and targeted school meal projects. In early 2026, the charity broadened its grassroots outreach by establishing Community Grub Clubs and opening a Nourish Hub Café.

In 2017, Yvonne Thomson founded UKHarvest, inspired by the need to reduce food waste at a time when more people were struggling to afford food. What began as a one-person-and-a-van mission has since grown into a food rescue operation that has saved the equivalent of 10 million meals!
