Trump has not decided whether to resume strikes on Iran, Rubio says

31 October 2026 17:08 GMT

US President Donald Trump has not yet decided whether to resume military action against Iran, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday.

Rubio told a news conference he did not know whether there was a specific timeframe for Qatar-led talks aimed at resolving hostilities between the US and Iran.

Iranian negotiators held talks with Qatari mediators in Doha to discuss paths out of the war, Reuters reported earlier on Saturday, citing a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Saturday’s talks in the Qatari capital followed more than 12 hours of discussions on Friday between Iranian and Qatari envoys in Tehran, the source said.
