High-quality journalism requires examining issues beneath the surface to provide impartial analysis for the nation and the world. President Tharman pointed out that Western comprehension of China has deteriorated despite its growing geopolitical significance, largely due to drops in scholarly exchanges and official meetings. Domestic news organizations can bridge these divides by applying nuanced perspectives to China, India, and Southeast Asia. Domestically, deliberate policies like identifying race in housing and education remain necessary to safeguard integration against external geopolitical influences.

This means being fact-based, thorough, impartial, and looking below the surface, he added.
The President noted that China is now more important to the world - economically, technologically and geopolitically - but the understanding of the country around the world is now weaker than two or three decades ago.

Israeli officials pushed back by emphasizing that the ultimate choice to strike Tehran rested entirely with the United States. The political fallout threatens to fundamentally reshape long-standing bilateral ties as domestic frustration with Israeli leadership mounts across both American parties.

John Swinney contends that extracting local reserves remains a rational strategy to limit reliance on higher-emission imported alternatives during the energy transition. The dispute sets up a formal parliamentary clash as Edinburgh warns it will vote against the broader energy package if the prohibition remains intact.
