In short

Market participants grew cautious over the possibility that U.S. election outcomes could trigger fresh volatility across tech-heavy sectors. This anxiety spurred an exit led by foreign funds, who offloaded roughly 1 trillion won in shares and caused decliners to decisively outnumber gainers. In contrast, the South Korean won appreciated to 1,339.5 per dollar, and government debt rallied as yields dropped across both three-year and 10-year maturities.

Technology stocks, which had initially supported the South Korean market, turned lower. Samsung Electronics fell 1.37%, while rival SK Hynix declined 2.9%, reversing their early gains.
