In short

Elevated job cuts were driven largely by persistent pressures in Singapore's outward-oriented industries. However, the broader labour market showed ongoing resilience as overall employment expanded by 27,700 positions, outpacing job gains recorded in both the prior quarter and the same period last year. Meanwhile, overall unemployment held steady even as resident and citizen joblessness inched upward.

The share of companies expecting to retrench employees over the next three months also edged up to 3.1%, from 2.8% a month earlier.
