Russia denies plans to evacuate staff working at Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant

25 October 2026 05:50 GMT

Russia’s embassy in Tehran has denied reports that Russian embassy staff and specialists working at the Bushehr nuclear power plant are preparing to leave Iran.

“Neither embassy staff nor Russian specialists at the Bushehr nuclear power plant have any plans to evacuate. Work continues as normal,” the embassy said in a statement, dismissing reports to the contrary as “FAKES”.

Bushehr, Iran’s only operating nuclear power plant, has come under repeated attack during the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran. Satellite imagery released in July showed damage inside the complex.
