LUCKNOW: In another strong action following the Pilibhit voter roll irregularities, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa on Saturday ordered the immediate deactivation of ECINET portal login IDs assigned to all voter registration centre (VRC) operators across the state.

He also directed the immediate termination of the outsourced computer assistant allegedly involved in the Pilibhit case.

The directive follows complaints of alleged misuse of login credentials in Pilibhit, where an inquiry revealed that 13,779 voter-related forms had been erroneously entered on the ECINET portal between May 31 and August 29, 2026, of which 10,470 were approved.

Rinwa instructed all district election officers (DEOs) to ensure that the login IDs of VRC operators working in every assembly constituency under their jurisdiction are disabled immediately, preventing them from carrying out any activity on the portal.

The CEO further directed electoral registration officers (EROs) to confirm the deactivation of all such login IDs. DEOs have been asked to independently verify compliance across their districts and submit reports to the CEO's office without delay.
