Patrick Mahomes and

Brittany Mahomes have another reason to celebrate their investment in Kansas City sports. The Kansas City Current drew a record-setting crowd for their final home match of the 2026 season, turning the occasion into more than a football game. With thousands of supporters gathering outside CPKC Stadium, the club expanded its matchday experience and brought more fans into the celebration. The milestone also highlighted the growing appeal of women's soccer in Kansas City, where the Mahomes family's involvement in the Current has become part of a wider push to build a strong sporting community.

Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes' KC Current welcome a record crowd

The Kansas City Current made history on October 25, welcoming a crowd expected to reach around 18,000 for the club's biggest-attended match. With CPKC Stadium holding about 12,000 people, the team introduced a new Ground Pass experience at Current Landing to give more supporters a place to watch the action.

Around 6,000 fans gathered in the outdoor area, where large screens, food, games and family-friendly activities created a festival-like atmosphere. The $10 pass offered access to five viewing screens, a children's zone and halftime entertainment, giving fans another way to take part even if they could not secure stadium tickets.

Jocelyn Monroe, the club's chief marketing director, said the occasion was about bringing the city together.

“It’s a fun day to come out and celebrate Kansas City and celebrate sports in Kansas City and be a part of history because this will be our largest attended match in Kansas City Current history,” said Jocelyn Monroe, chief marketing director of KC Current.

The club also stressed the importance of making its matches accessible to more people.

“What really makes the atmosphere is the people, so having more of our fans have the opportunity to come down and build out an accessible area for them is something we always were thinking about,” Monroe said.

For Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, who are part of the ownership group behind the KC Current, the milestone reflects the team's growing reach beyond the pitch. The turnout also showed how a match can become a citywide event rather than an experience limited to those inside the stadium.

KC Current expands Current Landing with new restaurants and events

The celebration brought fresh activity to Current Landing, the entertainment district surrounding the stadium. Two dining options, Revel Bar & Grill and Providence Pizza, added to the area's appeal on an already busy matchday.

Providence Pizza marked its grand opening on Sunday, with owner Aaron acknowledging both the excitement and the challenge of opening on such a busy day.

“We are excited and nervous. This is our grand opening, so we are opening our restaurant on one of the probably busiest days for Current Landing,” said Aaron, the owner of Providence Pizza.

The Current plans to build on the success by hosting more One Current events at Current Landing throughout the year. These gatherings could give supporters more chances to connect with the team outside regular matchdays.

For the Mahomes-backed club, the record crowd offers a clear sign of growing fan interest. By combining soccer, food and entertainment, the Current is working to make its home ground a destination for the wider Kansas City community.
