In short

Official lab assessments under Bureau of Indian Standards code IS 17021 proved that fuel dispensed in Karnataka adheres entirely to federal blending regulations. State-run retailers including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum raised procedural concerns regarding an October 2026 testing drive that prompted the blending allegations. Nationally, 893 fuel samples inspected across 27 states and Union territories satisfied all mandated quality requirements. Regulatory guidelines require six one-litre samples divided strictly between dealers, oil firms, and authorized laboratories to maintain a legal chain of custody.
