Historical data from 2001 to 2025 demonstrates that November and December serve as the benchmark index's most lucrative months, averaging gains of 2.5% and 2.6% respectively. Broader segments share this historical strength, alongside seasonal demand catalysts such as the November 8 Diwali festival. Despite revised valuations and typical year-end portfolio rebalancing, market experts caution that a lasting recovery necessitates improved corporate earnings and a return of foreign capital.

The index has ended November in positive territory in 15 of the past 25 years, while December has recorded gains in 17 of those 25 years, according to NSE data analysed by SAMCO Research.
