In short

The renewed hostilities have expanded beyond domestic frontlines to cross-border strikes, with Houthis launching ballistic missiles at Aden's presidential palace and airport while the Saudi-led coalition intercepted projectiles over Riyadh. On the ground, government forces have targeted insurgent supply routes and command hubs across Marib and Taiz. The surge in violence has led to verified civilian deaths, half of whom are children, even as relief agencies distribute aid to nearly a quarter-million people.

A new outbreak in fighting in Yemen has forced tens of thousands of people from their homes.

At least 290,000 have been displaced in Yemen since the country’s war re-erupted in August, according to the United Nations’ humanitarian office (OCHA), with a dire threat to pregnant women.

Fighting between forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally-recognised government and Houthi rebels has intensified, particularly in Taiz governorate and coastal areas, with thousands reported killed.
