Azam Khan was detained directly outside the Rampur district jail after completing nearly 11 months of imprisonment, even as prison authorities received release orders across 50 separate cases. During the confrontation with federal investigators, Khan protested his detention as faith-based persecution linked to his establishment of a university. Officials subsequently prepared to produce the former lawmaker before a court located in Ghaziabad.
