In short

The central government informed a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant that it intends to revisit the 2026 equity regulations to alleviate widespread public dissatisfaction. In light of these planned administrative revisions, the top court adjourned hearings on several petitions challenging the framework. These legal challenges notably include a plea submitted by the mothers of deceased students Rohith Vemula and Payal Tadvi.
