Milk, ghee prices to raise Diwali shopping bills

In short

Major producers like Amul, Nandini, and Aavin have lifted rates on essential festive baking ingredients such as ghee and butter amid severe supply pinches. Meanwhile, the cost of imported dry fruits has reached historic highs, with pistachios jumping up to 70% and almonds increasing by as much as 40%. These compounding operational expenses, coupled with prior LPG shortages, are squeezing confectioners and accelerating inflation across desserts to 13.8%. Corporate buyers in the automotive, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods sectors are actively downsizing orders in response.
