Meesho Ltd reported that its September quarter net loss narrowed to ₹132 crore, down from ₹411 crore a year earlier, alongside a 34% revenue increase to ₹4,132 crore. Higher logistics efficiencies and fraud-reducing AI tools helped boost contribution margins to 6% of net merchandise value. Despite these operational gains, marketing expenses rose to 2.9% of NMV, and newer bets like grocery and financial services posted an expanded Ebitda loss of ₹41.6 crore. Management additionally noted that geopolitical tensions could drive fuel costs higher, threatening the spending power of its value-conscious base.

Meesho Ltd's September quarter (Q2FY27) earnings showed operating leverage at work, even as competition and a potential demand slowdown kept investors cautious. The stock fell 0.5% on Thursday.
Operating revenue grew 34% year-on-year to ₹4,132 crore, while net loss narrowed to ₹132 crore from ₹411 crore. Net merchandise value (NMV) rose 23% year-on-year to ₹12,911 crore, and growth was even higher at 33% when measured over the 90 days before Dussehra this year and last year. Meesho’s mega blockbuster sale, which fell in Q2 last year, has shifted to Q3 this year.
Margin improvement
Contribution margin rose to 6% of NMV, from 4.6% in Q1 and 3.3% a year ago. Of Meesho’s two primary margin levers, logistics and advertising, logistics efficiencies drove the Q2 improvement. Deliveries were 15% faster year-on-year on higher network density, while AI helped reduce fraudulent orders, delivery re-attempts, cancellations and returns.
The challenge is that any savings in logistics costs are eventually passed on. Management has also cautioned against extrapolating Q2’s contribution margin over the near term, even as its medium-term target stands at 8-8.5%.
Rapid merchant adoption across India's commercial sector is dramatically improving the financial trajectory of key fintech infrastructure providers. This strong bottom-line performance reflects accelerating terminal installations among mid-market businesses as electronic checkouts normalize nationwide. The firm is also positioning itself to capture meaningful transaction fee windfalls from anticipated regulatory updates governing high-value unified payment transfers.
The paint manufacturer experienced solid top-line expansion during the July-September period, driven by operational gains across its core business segments. Despite the stronger quarterly earnings and an approved shareholder payout, negative market sentiment pushed company equity lower in subsequent trading. Investors appear cautious as the market digested the broader operational figures alongside current share price performance.
Strong quarterly sales gains across key consumer categories were overshadowed by heavy margin compression driven by a 24% surge in raw-material expenses. Geopolitical conflict in West Asia has pushed commodity costs higher, prompting price increases and marketing cuts to protect profitability. Management now faces potential volume headwinds as inflationary pressures intersect with drought-affected rural markets.
