The High Court dismissed petitions from Kadapa district claimants who demanded Rs 600 per square yard based on August 2010 valuation guidelines. The state originally resumed the DKT patta land in 2004 for weaker-section housing and took official possession back in 2008. Authorities had already awarded ex gratia compensation calculated at Rs 1.5 lakh per acre alongside standard statutory benefits. Citing Supreme Court precedent, the bench maintained that post-dated market certificates cannot be applied retroactively without exceptional circumstances.
