In short

The company's net profit contraction was driven by a 27% drop in cigarette segment PBIT, even as segment revenue surged due to strategic price absorption. Meanwhile, the non-cigarette FMCG division delivered strong counter-momentum, led by 20% growth in packaged foods and home care that expanded margins by over 50 basis points. The agri-business also supported overall operations with double-digit revenue and profit growth fueled by leaf tobacco exports and value-added agricultural goods.

ITC said geopolitical developments, climatic conditions, inflationary headwinds and consumer sentiment would remain key monitorable, even as demand in both rural and urban markets remained resilient.

The cigarette business reported a 78% YoY increase in segment revenue to ₹15,536.1 crore in the September quarter. However, segment profit before interest and tax (PBIT) fell 27% to ₹3,813.5 crore, reflecting the impact of higher taxation and the company's calibrated pricing response.
