In short

Qatar is leading mediation efforts and expects formal responses from Washington and Tehran within 36 hours regarding a draft proposal. Meanwhile, hostilities persist after recent American strikes on Qeshm island and Iranian claims of shooting down three U.S. drones. Regional powers continue parallel diplomatic tracks to prevent the crisis from engulfing the wider Middle East.
