How to write comparison content that doesn't age like milk

In short

PostHog has generated over 25,000 sign-ups from comparison guides since 2021, with nearly half of those prospects converting within 24 hours of reading. The company expanded its library from an initial open-source analytics roundup into head-to-head assessments against competitors like Amplitude, Sentry, and Datadog. While manual updates became challenging as the library grew to 14 pages in 2023, the format remains a potent growth engine. To preserve reader trust over time, the team focuses on providing direct answers while acknowledging genuine competitor strengths.

So how do you walk the line between being fair (complimentary, even) to your competitors while still capturing demand & showing off your product's strengths? And how do you keep the content accurate once it's out in the world to avoid spreading misinformation?

Both are worth figuring out if you want to write comparison content that doesn't get dunked on. And both are things I'm here to give some answers to based on our experience writing comparison content at PostHog.

Why bother with comparison content?
