JHANSI: “After a month, she came to know that her husband had a previous wife who lives in Indore,” said the father of a 28-year-old woman who died after collapsing at a hotel in Jhansi. He accused her husband of murder, alleging that he had concealed his first marriage and frequently harassed her, according to news agency ANI.
Speaking to the media, Muskan Simolia’s father, Ramji Lal Ahirwar, said, “I got my daughter Muskan married on June 29, 2026. After a month or so, she came to know that her husband had a previous wife who lives in Indore."
“I watched the hotel CCTV footage, and it appears to me that he pushed her as soon as she entered the room. A person cannot fall so suddenly on their own,” Ahirwar added.
“If someone is pushed, they would move their hands and legs or react in some way. He hit her with such force that it is evident how violently she was thrown,” Ahirwar said.
“I am 100% suspicious because of his first wife. He would often harass my daughter, saying that his first wife was more beautiful and better than her, and that she and her father were worth nothing,” Ahirwar added.
According to ASP Preeti Singh, “A woman was brought dead to the district hospital. Her husband was present with her and was questioned. He stated that he and his wife had stayed at Hotel Rishabh the previous night. While checking out today, they entered their room, and his wife suddenly collapsed.”
“With the help of hotel staff, he took her to the hospital, where she was declared dead. CCTV footage was also examined, showing the woman entering the room with her husband and a hotel staff member. She is then seen collapsing while standing at the room’s threshold,” Singh said.
“Afterwards, she was taken downstairs by her husband and hotel staff and rushed to the hospital. Further action will be taken based on the findings regarding the cause of death,” Singh added.
Muskan died after collapsing near a hotel room’s doorway. CCTV footage reportedly shows her falling backwards moments after entering the room with her husband and a hotel staff member.
Muskan was staying with her husband, Nilesh, a bank manager from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, at Hotel Rishabh in the Sipri Bazaar police station area. According to police, the couple checked into the hotel on Friday night. The following morning, Muskan was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The CCTV footage reportedly shows Muskan entering the room with Nilesh and a hotel employee. Within seconds, she collapses backwards near the doorway and hits her head on the ground. Nilesh is then seen lifting her and carrying her inside the room. She is later taken downstairs with the help of hotel staff and rushed to hospital.
According to Nilesh, Muskan suddenly collapsed while the couple were preparing to check out. However, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear. The footage captures her fall but does not, by itself, establish what caused it or whether an assault took place.
Ahirwar alleged that the family learnt about Nilesh’s first marriage after Muskan’s wedding and that the revelation led to frequent quarrels between the couple. He cited the alleged marital discord while questioning the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.
Muskan had returned to her parental home in Jhansi on October 10 to prepare for a railway junior engineer examination scheduled for October 28, her father said. Ahirwar alleged that Nilesh arrived in Jhansi on October 23 and took Muskan with him on the pretext of visiting his aunt. He claimed that Nilesh instead took her to a hotel.
Police have detained Nilesh for questioning as part of the investigation. The postmortem examination is expected to help establish the cause of death. The allegations against him have not been established, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
