The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention placed both individuals in isolation while pursuing contact identification and pending laboratory confirmation. The alert follows the October 20 diagnosis of an infected Swiss woman who arrived from Uganda, marking Nigeria's first recorded case in over a decade. That imported infection placed Nigeria among five nations impacted by the Bundibugyo strain, alongside Kenya, France, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Swiss patient and her diplomat husband were subsequently evacuated to Switzerland.
