In short

Drawing on his career leading Guangzhou Metro's expansion to 780 kilometers across 19 lines, Cai Changjun holds seats on SMRT's Technical Advisory Panel and an LTA advisory board. A central element of this partnership is the testing and adaptation of Suiteng OS, a smartphone-like modular rail operating system developed under his leadership. The software is being evaluated at the Bishan Depot rail innovation laboratory to allow system updates without full hardware replacements. Cai holds 36 invention patents and emphasizes building adaptable railway systems that readily respond to evolving passenger habits.

One of them, Suiteng OS, is being adapted and tested in Singapore at the SMRT-Guangzhou Metro Rail Innovation Laboratory, launched at Bishan Depot on June 3, 2026.

Suiteng OS was first deployed at Guangzhou Metro in September 2019. It is a rail operating system that can be…
