In short

The overhauled policy allows an initial 25% of Agniveers to gain regular employment after four years based on merit, while the remaining 75% can take on a two-year extension. During this secondary tour, personnel will draw increased monthly wages before becoming eligible for full enrollment based on fitness, discipline, and vigilance checks. Those who decline the two-year extension will still exit with their allotted Seva Nidhi financial payout. Defence leaders noted that the modifications reflect continuous reviews and strong satisfaction with current deployments, including female Agniveers stationed on aircraft carriers.
