In short

Spot gold climbed 2% to cross the $4,000 threshold, while silver, platinum, and palladium also logged notable advances alongside a retreating U.S. dollar index. Even with these fresh gains putting gold on track for a 3.7% weekly rise, both gold and silver remain significantly lower year-to-date following steep reversals from their 2025 highs.
