By · Published by Everything Blog

In short

GitLab has released critical patch releases addressing security vulnerabilities, including an integer overflow issue in the regular expression compiler and an improper authentication issue in the OmniAuth-to-LDAP auto-linking email lookup. The latest versions, 19.5.1, 19.4.3, 19.3.6, 19.2.9, 19.1.9, 19.0.10, and 18.11.13, have been released to address these vulnerabilities. These patches include fixes for vulnerabilities in scheduled releases and critical patches for high-severity vulnerabilities. GitLab recommends upgrading to the latest version as soon as possible. GitLab Critical Patch Release: 19.5.1, 19.4.3, 19.3.6, 19.2.9, 19.1.9, 19.0.10, 18.11.13

On October 21, 2026, we released versions 19.5.1, 19.4.3, 19.3.6, 19.2.9, 19.1.9, 19.0.10, 18.11.13 for GitLab Community Edition (CE) and Enterprise Edition (EE).

These versions contain important bug and security fixes, and we strongly recommend that all self-managed GitLab installations be upgraded to one of these versions immediately. GitLab.com is already running the patched version. GitLab Dedicated tenants running 19.3.5-internal0 and 19.4.2-internal0 or later already include these fixes and do not need to take action.

GitLab releases fixes for vulnerabilities in patch releases. There are two types of patch releases: scheduled releases and ad-hoc critical patches for high-severity vulnerabilities. Scheduled releases are released twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays. For more information, please visit our releases handbook and security FAQ. You can see all of GitLab release blog posts here.

For security fixes, the issues detailing each vulnerability are made public on our issue tracker 90 days after the release in which they were patched.

We are committed to ensuring that all aspects of GitLab that are exposed to customers or that host customer data are held to the highest security standards. To maintain good security hygiene, it is highly recommended that all customers upgrade to the latest patch release for their supported version. You can read more best practices in securing your GitLab instance in our blog post.

Recommended Action

We strongly recommend that all installations running a version affected by the issues described below are upgraded to the latest version as soon as possible.

When no specific deployment type (omnibus, source code, helm chart, etc.) of a product is mentioned, it means all types are affected.

CVE-2026-12664 - Improper Access Control issue in GraphQL work item email address field impacts GitLab CE/EE

GitLab has remediated an issue that, under certain conditions, could have allowed an authenticated user with a read_api-scoped token to retrieve a project’s incoming email address and create work items, bypassing the token’s restrictions, due to insufficient scope enforcement on a GraphQL field.

Impacted Versions: GitLab CE/EE: all versions from 18.2 before 19.3.6, 19.4 before 19.4.3, and 19.5 before 19.5.1

CVE-2026-16255 - Incomplete enforcement of instance-wide SAML/LDAP membership lock allows unauthorized member additions in GitLab EE

GitLab has remediated an issue that, when the instance-wide SAML or LDAP membership lock was enabled, an authenticated user could have granted or accepted project and group membership outside the identity provider’s control, due to incomplete enforcement of the membership lock on requests created before the lock was enabled.

CVE-2026-105711 - Use of Cache Containing Sensitive Information issue in merge request title rendering impacts GitLab CE/EE

GitLab has remediated an issue that, when a merge request in a public project referenced a confidential issue from a private project, an authenticated user with no project membership could have read the confidential issue’s title, due to a viewer-independent fragment cache key that incorrectly shared per-user-redacted rendered content across all users.

Important notes on upgrading

This patch includes database migrations that may impact your upgrade process.

Impact on your installation:

- Single-node instances: This patch will cause downtime during the upgrade as migrations must complete before GitLab can start.

- Multi-node instances: With proper zero-downtime upgrade procedures, this patch can be applied without downtime.

Regular migrations

The following versions include regular migrations that run during the upgrade process:

- 19.4.3

- 19.3.6

Post-deploy migrations

The following versions include post-deploy migrations that can run after the upgrade:

- 19.4.3
