In short

Developer Carsten Haitzler launched the major update following nearly two years of active development, breaking the project's standard 12-month release cadence. The upgrade modernizes the environment's system integration by incorporating native audio mixing alongside expanded networking and BSD platform capabilities. In addition to broad core enhancements, the release introduces low-level upgrades such as X connection recovery, improved pixmap handling, and nested Wayland compositor shutdown.
