Elon Musk appears to signal the end of the road for Cybertruck

In short

Manufacturing of the Cybertruck will wind down next year at the Texas factory to reallocate space for the self-driving Cybercab. The model officially launched in 2023 after being unveiled in 2019, but it faced immediate hurdles in the United States truck market alongside multiple safety issues. Notably, the vehicle was hit with a 2025 recall affecting more than 46,000 units due to loose exterior trim. Statements from both Musk and the project's lead engineer indicate that the pickup is being discontinued entirely rather than relocated.

Tesla fans have been mourning the news online, with one person calling it "the best vehicle Tesla has ever made, external" as he lamented it being "discontinued next year".

Musk responded to the user, external with the word "true", adding: "But the Cybertruck fleet will be around for a long time."
