In short

Representative Haley Stevens broke ranks with party leadership after losing an August primary to progressive nominee Abdul El-Sayed, claiming the nominee made her feel unwelcome on his campaign. El-Sayed, who has championed progressive stances such as halting arms sales to Israel, brushed off the development to focus on voters. Heading into the final vote, most polls still indicate that El-Sayed holds a narrow advantage over Rogers.

"This is a very close election, we all know that, but Abdul made very clear that I was not welcome in his campaign," she told reporters when announcing her endorsement.

Democrats are seeking to wrest control of both chambers of Congress from Republicans in Tuesday's midterms, with the Michigan race a key battleground that could help them flip control of the Senate.
