Chipotle Mexican Grill is about to report earnings. Here's what to expect

In short

Wall Street projects earnings of 29 cents per share on revenue of $3.29 billion, alongside an expected 1.5% increase in quarterly same-store sales. These numbers come after summer sales took a hit from consumer health worries tied to cyclospora. Despite that setback, the brand is rebounding from a turbulent 2025 and maintains a full-year target of low single-digit same-store sales growth. Meanwhile, management remains on defensive alert with a shrunken $36 billion market capitalization.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is about to report its quarterly earnings after the bell on Wednesday.

Here's what Wall Street is expecting the company to report, based on a survey of analysts from LSEG:

- Earnings per share: 29 cents expected

- Revenue: $3.29 billion expected

Wall Street is projecting that the burrito chain will report same-store sales growth of 1.5% for the quarter, based on StreetAccount estimates. While consumer fears about cyclospora weighed on its sales during the summer, Chipotle appears to have rebounded fully from its shaky 2025, when diner traffic and same-store sales fell.

For the full year, Chipotle is projecting that its same-store sales will increase by a low single digit percentage.

It also marks the company's first earnings report after speculation earlier in October that Starbucks could buy the company. The coffee giant has since denied that it is interested in acquiring Chipotle. Semafor also reported that Chipotle had hired advisors to defend against activist investors or an unwanted takeover bid as its shares have struggled.

Chipotle's stock has fallen nearly 22% so far this year, dragging its market cap down to about $36 billion.
