In short

The aerospace firm had successfully conducted three flights of the 322-foot vehicle following its 2025 debut before the ground explosion occurred. In an internal memo, CEO Dave Limp explained that recent flash floods and difficult summer weather created further impediments to the launchpad recovery effort. Technicians have now finished repairing and restacking the critical Vehicle Access Tower while restoring the launch bridge. These ongoing repairs are vital for Amazon to begin deploying its Leo satellite internet constellation into orbit.

Amazon's growing Leo satellite internet constellation, set to compete with SpaceX's Starlink, relies on Blue Origin as a key launch provider.

Limp told employees that summer weather had caused delays, but the company had repaired and restacked the Vehicle Access Tower and restored the launch bridge as part of efforts to return New Glenn to flight.

"Rebuilding at this pace hasn't been easy. For those of you who live at or visit the Cape, you know that this summer's weather has not…
