Binance confirmed it will directly absorb the multi-billion-dollar deficit resulting from the October 29 breach rather than passing losses to customers. The recovery process has relied on corporate treasury assets, the futures insurance fund, and planned deployments from the Secure Asset Fund for Users. The platform is also actively buying remaining tokens through market transactions and over-the-counter channels to restore total balances. Furthermore, a fresh Proof of Reserves snapshot was conducted on October 31 so clients can independently verify platform holdings.

Binance has replenished 90 per cent of the
cryptocurrency assets stolen in a massive security breach, with the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange saying that it will absorb the financial impact of the theft rather than pass the losses on to customers.
The exchange has also confirmed that 10 major cryptocurrencies are now fully backed and said it remains on track to resume withdrawals on Sunday, November 1.
According to Reuters, Binance said on Saturday that the replenishment includes funds from its corporate treasury and a portion of its futures insurance fund. The exchange is also preparing to partially deploy its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) over the next 24 hours as it continues efforts to replace the remaining affected assets.
The exchange said it is purchasing the outstanding stolen assets through cryptocurrency market transactions and over-the-counter (OTC) channels.
Binance reiterated that customers would not bear the financial consequences of the security breach, stating that the company would absorb the losses itself.
"Binance will absorb the financial impact of these stolen funds, not our users," the exchange said.
The breach drained digital assets in just 20 minutes on Thursday, with experts pointing to North Korea's military-linked TraderTraitor unit as the likely culprit. While exchange partners managed to freeze roughly half of the stolen funds, crypto research firm TRM Labs warned that such proceeds are routinely funneled into state weapons proliferation. The unprecedented loss has intensified calls for stricter regulatory oversight, mandatory auditing, and insurance requirements across the digital asset sector.
Financial markets face heightened volatility as a shift in congressional control could stall legislative priorities and complicate the macroeconomic environment. Meanwhile, incoming labor metrics will test recent growth momentum and guide expectations for central bank policy. Heavyweight corporate results will provide crucial clarity on whether robust profit margins can justify elevated tech valuations after a sharp Friday retreat.
Corporate treasury reserves and other company funds have provided more than $6.34bn to shield customers entirely from the historic cyberattack. Withdrawals across major tokens including bitcoin, ethereum, and Tether are scheduled to restart on Sunday, 1 November, while sourcing the final 10% of affected assets will require additional time. Meanwhile, international authorities are actively tracing the remaining capital after successfully freezing nearly half of the stolen sum.
