FARIDABAD: A man was shot dead following a dispute over vehicle parking in Sector 21C on the night of Dhanteras, two days before Diwali.

The deceased, identified as Paramjeet Dhankar, was allegedly shot by his neighbour, Mohan alias Monu Sharma, who is accused of opening fire with his licensed pistol.

According to police, the accused fired around 15-16 rounds, of which three to four bullets hit Paramjeet, killing him on the spot.

Paramjeet lived on the first floor of house number 641 with his wife, son and daughter. He was employed with a private company in Singapore.

He had returned to Faridabad just two days before the incident to attend his nephew's wedding, scheduled for November 24. He originally belonged to Hisar.

Police said Paramjeet had returned home from the gym around 8pm when an argument broke out between him and Mohan, who lived on the third floor of the same building, over vehicle parking. Police are also investigating whether the dispute was linked to a pet dog.

The argument escalated, following which the accused allegedly opened fire at Paramjeet.
