Community-managed lists are rapidly falling behind because many administrators have abandoned active maintenance, leaving obsolete materials featured prominently. At the same time, contributors are flooding these lists with low-quality, AI-generated tools that bypass or overwhelm maintainer review. For instance, the awesome-R repository has not seen updates in over a year and continues to showcase package download statistics from 2016. Consequently, software developers are turning away from these directories in favor of direct queries to modern AI models.

On GitHub, you will find a lot of repositories with the prefix 'awesome'. They usually contain curated knowledge and resources related to a certain domain, such as awesome-python (see, e.g., this repository for a list of awesome repositories). I used to see these awesome repositories as potential goldmines of good content. However, nowadays I see most of them as irrelevant and useless. There are two reasons for this, and they are both related to AI.

You are in most cases better off simply asking a decent AI model for inspiration or the material you need. That is, I find it difficult to believe that most of these awesome lists are of interest to people anymore. If they remain useful, it will mostly be for agents looking to find and check relevant resources.
I had a quick look at the awesome-R repository. The repository was last updated more than a year ago, and most of the resources included in…

Speaking at GovTech's 10th anniversary dinner on Nov. 5, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong called for a fundamental mindset shift across the public sector. He stressed that early technical integration avoids convoluted systems and leads to streamlined, user-friendly solutions for citizens. Airline passengers will soon be able to access their personal music, playlists, and video podcasts directly through hardware embedded in airplane seats. This integration marks a shift away from preloaded media toward real-time cloud entertainment, powered by a massive low-latency satellite constellation across the fleet. The move establishes a technical blueprint that could expand to include other third-party digital platforms in future rollouts.
