Asian Paints’ strokes of price hikes to fight inflation yet to brighten margins

By · Published by Everything Blog

In short

The company's gross margin fell 350 basis points year-on-year to 39.7% in Q2FY27 as cost of goods sold jumped by 24%. To offset these pressures, management implemented successive price increases approaching 20% since April, while decorative segment volumes still grew by 6%. Long-term margin recovery is slated to benefit from a new vinyl acetate emulsion facility that began initial operations in September. However, persistent cost volatility and intensifying industry rivalry have prompted brokerage downgrades, causing shares to slide 24% from their peak.
