Anthropic’s Daniela Amodei questions OpenAI’s Pentagon deal: Was it opportunistic

By · Via Times of India · Published by Everything Blog

In short

The dispute originated in February when Anthropic rejected defense requests to weaken its core safety safeguards regarding mass surveillance and fully autonomous weapons. Following the refusal, the Pentagon designated the startup a supply-chain risk, prompting OpenAI to step in and secure its own military contract. While OpenAI maintains its agreement retains key ethical prohibitions, Anthropic warned of existential threats to democracy and is challenging the government blacklisting in federal court.
