Air traffic suspended after missiles target Aden airport

28 October 2026 21:30 GMT

Several waves of explosions were heard in the area of the southern Yemeni port city of Aden on Wednesday after the airport was targeted with two missiles, sources on the ground told Al Jazeera.

The Yemeni forces said the attack on the airport caused injuries among civilians and material damage, halting air traffic after the strike, two transport ministry officials told Reuters.

The strike followed an evacuation warning from Yemen's Houthis, whose spokesman Yahya Saree earlier released a statement urging everyone to leave the facility.

Saree said in a post on X that the evacuation warning was prompted by the presence of a Saudi military cargo aircraft delivering weapons.
