Fal secured $1.3 billion in a Series F round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, elevating its total capital raised across its last two rounds to $1.65 billion alongside a prior Sequoia-led Series E. Founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven, the platform hosts and runs models to generate media outputs. Earlier this year, the company surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue due to intense customer demand for inference services. Despite this rapid growth, gross margins across the competitive landscape remain compressed by steep hardware procurement and leasing expenses.

Fal, a San Francisco-based startup that hosts and runs AI video, image, and audio models, has raised $1.3 billion in its latest funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Nvidia, Sound Ventures, and T. Rowe Price. The deal values Fal at $16 billion, double its $8 billion valuation in April, Bloomberg reported.
The startup announced its Series E & F rounds at the same time, noting that a combined $1.65 billion was raised across both. (Sequoia led the earlier round.)
The latest round (Series F) comes amid soaring demand for inference services, the process of running an AI model that’s already been trained to generate outputs, particularly from customers relying on open-source models. Fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue earlier this year, Bloomberg’s report noted.
Companies providing inference services, including Baseten, Fireworks AI, and Modal, have also been growing rapidly and raising large funding rounds at higher valuations. But their gross margins remain thin because of the high cost of buying or leasing compute, according to several people familiar with inference companies’ financials.
Announced as part of the iOS 27.3 update rolling out on Tuesday, developers can now integrate the assistant's new capabilities into all apps. Under the update, the voice assistant will be able to process natural language prompts and reference a user's personal context.
Third-party software can now deeply integrate with the company's voice assistant following the rollout of the latest operating system test versions. By implementing the dedicated framework, creators are able to surface their in-app content and automate tasks directly through voice commands. This expansion broadens the ecosystem of supported services, significantly enhancing the assistant's overall utility.
Major technology developers are facing intensified scrutiny over the potential for their generative systems to be weaponized in political campaigns. In response, leading firms are implementing targeted safeguards and establishing dedicated operational monitoring units. These protective efforts aim to actively counter bad actors seeking to compromise electoral processes.
